The power of durian

Health Benefits of Durian
>
> Traditionally the durian fruit was seen as a powerful aphrodisiac, while
> women would eat the ashes from burnt durian skins to help them recover after
> child birth. But concoctions made from the leaves of the durian tree were
> also used to help reduce swelling and cure skin disease. More recently
> nutritionists have claimed that the durian fruit can help lower cholesterol
> and cleanse the blood as well as cure jaundice and alleviate fevers.
>
> Experts even say that you can rid yourself of yeast infections such as
> thrush through eating the durian fruit. This is because of the durian's high
> iron content that helps the white blood cells in our body make specific
> chemicals that kill off the infection.
>
> The durian is also packed with amino acids as well as Vitamins B, C and E
> and many people are even comparing the sweet custard like centre of the
> durian fruit to the goji berry for its high levels of anti oxidants. These
> anti oxidants help slow down the destruction of cells from free radicals
> such as pollution and smoking; in doing so, they decrease the effects of
> aging on the skin giving you a younger more refreshed look.
>
> Among the amino acids found inside the durian is tryptophan. Tryptophan is
> essential for making and maintaining serotonin levels in the body. Serotonin
> is the hormone in the body that regulates our happiness. People with low
> serotonin levels tend to have short tempers, are often moody and suffer from
> depression. This means that not only will eating the durian fruit help keep
> your body running smoothly but it will also increase your general happiness
> and well being.

Education dilemma..

THIS LETTER WAS PUBLISHED IN BERITA HARIAN ON 26 OCT 2009... JUST TO SHARE WITH NO SIDES TAKEN...

Pegawai kerap bertukar jejaskan pendidikan

SAYA ingin menyatakan pandangan mengenai pencapaian pendidikan di Daerah Batang Padang tercorot berbanding daerah lain di Perak. Sejak 2004 pegawai Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah sering bertukar, malah pernah tiga kali tiada pegawai.

Maka terjerit penolong pegawai Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah Batang Padang menjaga segala hal akademik.

ADUKA
Batang Padang,
Perak.

Kena Tindih??

A nice e-mail sent to me; just thot it would be interesting to share bout myth n scientific xplanation..

just to share.... aku baca segmen pengalaman menyeramkan dalam book and readings, byk sgt orang dok citer pasal pengalaman kena tindih ni........ betul ker kena tindih disebabkan gangguan makhluk seperti jin atau hantu?

Orang ramai describe kena tindih seperti takleh gerakkan seluruh badan, hujung jari, terasa berat kat dada...nampak mender2 pelik2 (hantu, makhluk hitam dan sebagainyer) ....
kalau aku tanya sini, mesti ramai jawab pernah kena....aku pun jujur pernah ade pengalaman kena 'tindih' ni masa skolah menengah dulu....aderla dalam 3-4 kali jugak....masa tu aku sedar....boleh bukak mata separuh..... aku tau aku sedar....tapi takleh gerak...kadang2 geram, sbb takleh gerak.....pastu 5 minit baru leh gerak....aku dulu pun takut...mmg ingat kena hempap dah...lps boleh gerak tu seram sejuk jer..... tapi, setelah aku masuk U belajar pasal tubuh badan manusia..... baru la aku tau kebenaran dia..... ni aku nak citer sket pasal fenomena hempap/tindih atau nama medical nyer 'sleep paralysis'

. ... temporary paralysis ni selalu berlaku bila time2 nak tido (hypnagogic paralysis) atau baru2 bangun dari tido (hypnopompic paralysis)

ok, normal badan manusia bila tido, bila masuk stage tidur yang nyenyak atau REM (rapid eye movement.... .waktu nyenyak ni, bijik mata kiter gerak2) stage.....otak akan bagitau badan kita suruh rehat...so, badan kite kira macam switch off kejap.....REM atonia (tader muscle tone)......

ok, otak kiter pun ader switch off button....dipanggil reticular activating system RAS.......bila otak dah switch off badan, dia pun auto switch off RAS ni......so tinggal automatic function (degupan jantung, bernafas etc.) jer yang on.....kirenyer screensaver laaa or hibernate... so,, bila kita bangun, RAS switched on balik......kita sedar fully awake state....tapi kadang2, electrical signal tak diactivate kan oleh otak suh switch on balik badan kiter...... maka masa tu laa badan kita lumpuh seketika.... before otak activate balik......mmg menakutkan tapi benar..... tapi paralysis tu tak semestinyer complete atau full..kadang2 partial atau sebahagian jer...tu ader yang boleh gerakkan ibu jari, tp badan lain lumpuh etc....
Satu lagi, sleep paralysis ni selalu jugak datang skali dengan hallucinations( halusinasi la) either dalam bentuk auditory (dengar bunyi pelik2), visual (nampak mender bukan2) atau tactile (deria sentuhan, terasa mender sentuh/hempap dll..)

Sebab2 atau mender2 yang boleh mentrigger sleep paralysis:
1. tidor dalam posisi terlentang terlalu lama
2. jadual tidur yang tak tentu arah (irregular sleep clock)
4. stress yang byk kat otak...masalah keluarga, kewangan bla2
5. pertukaran gaya hidup secara tiba2 ( macam biasa dok rumah jer, tetiba esok gi panjat gunung, kayuh beskal....heheh extreme sgt contoh aku ni)
6. orang yang ader penyakit narcolepsy

So jangan lagi kata kena hempap ngan hantu... Korang lagi hantu sebenornye.. ........

Sesama kita

This tazkirah originated from an Ustazah Maznah, as sent to me 2 days ago..

Just thot to share good input for our present n future........

KPI

This was taken n edited from harian metro.........

Kalau beribadat hanya ikutan sahaja, dorongan memang tak kuat.

Membeli bukan main sakan, tetapi bab ibadat asyik belah saja," katanya.

alunan Al-Quran bakal kau dendang...bakal kau syairkan

andai kau tahu ini Ramadhan terakhir
tentu malammu engkau sibukkan dengan
bertarawih.. .berqiamullail. ..bertahajjud. ..
mengadu...merintih. ..meminta belas kasih

Duhai Ilahi....
andai ini Ramadhan terakhir buat kami
jadikanlah ia Ramadhan paling berarti...paling berseri...
menerangi kegelapan hati kami

to be continued...

Better late than never..

this was sent to me via e-mail. Hope others would benefit from it as well...

Bapa salih bentuk keluarga cemerlang

7- Mengajar anak ilmu fardu ain.

Survival..

Beware, how to cook instant noodles

For all who love eating Maggi

DO NOT IGNORE THIS ........ Especially those fond of Maggi.......

'CORRECT WAY OF COOKING NOODLES'

The correct way to cook instant noodles without harming our bodies and health. `Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for around 3 minutes and then it's ready to eat..

This is the WRONG method of cooking the instant noodles.
By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structures of the MSG causing it to be toxic.
The other thing that you may or may not realize is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have taken the noodles.

CORRECT METHOD :
1. boil the noodles in a pot with water.
2. once the noodles is cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax.
3.. boil another pot of water till boiling and put the noodles into the hot boiling water and then shut the fire.
4. only at this stage when the fire is off, and while the water is very hot, put the ingredient with the powder into the water, to make noodle soup.
5. however, if you need dry noodles, take out the noodles and add the ingredient with the powder and toss it to get dry noodles.

Dietician's Note: If you buy plain hakka noodles which you make initially need to boil in water and discard the water. This will soften the noodles but to prevent it from sticking we need to add a tbsp of oil and also the noodles are deep fried partially to make it crunchy and then dusted with flour to prevent it from sticking while boiling. Hence when you buy the noodles they are already made unhealthy and this is the type we use to make stir fry noodles and the regular maggi too is made the same way plus they add MSG/ ajinomoto and other chemical preservatives.

A large number of patient with the ages ranging from 18-24 years are ending up with pancreatitis either as a swelling or infection of the pancreas due to regular consumption of instant noodles..... If the frequency is more than 3 times a week, then it is very hazardous...

memory lane..

To All those Born in the 40's, 50's , 60's & early '70s..
The article below was written by Patrick Teoh in his blog "Niamah!!".
To All those Born in the 40's, 50's , 60's & early '70s...

First, we survived with mothers who had no maids. They cooked /cleaned while taking care of us at the same time
They took aspirin, candies floss, fizzy drinks, shaved ice with syrups and diabetes were rare. Salt added to Pepsi or Coke was remedy for fever.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets..

As children, we would ride with our parents on bicycles/ motorcycles for 2 or 3. Richer ones in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a private taxi was a special treat.

We drank water from the tap and NOT from a bottle.

We would spend hours on the fields under bright sunlight flying our kites, without worrying about the UV ray which never seem to affect us.
We go to jungle to catch spiders without worries of Aedes mosquitoes.

With mere 5 pebbles (stones) would be a endless game. With a ball (tennis ball best) we boys would ran like crazy for hours.

We catch guppy in drains / canals and when it rain we swim there.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually worry about being unhygenic.

We ate salty, very sweet & oily food, candies, bread and real butter and drank very sweet soft sweet coffee/ tea, ice kacang, but we weren't overweight because.......

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, till streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day.
AND WE DONT HAVE HANDPHONE S TO BUG US. And we were O..K. AND WE ARE SAFE.
We would spend hours repairing our old bicycles and wooden scooters out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem .

We did no t have Playstations, X-boxes, Nintendo's, multiple channels on cable TV, DVD movies, no surround sound, no phones, no personal computers, no Internet. WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and we still continued the stunts.

We never had birthdays parties till we are 21
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and just yelled for them!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

Yet this generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!
The past 40 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

And YOU are one of them!

CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the government regulated our lives for our own good.

And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.

what do you think?

You are only poor if you don’t have a TV or Astro

According to the NST, the Welfare Department says if you have a TV or Astro, then you do not qualify for government aid since you are not “hardcore poor”. The department bars the disabled from getting welfare aid if they have Astro or a television set at home. The rule applies even if one lives in someone else's house, temporarily or otherwise. In one case, a disabled 40-year-old, paralysed from the neck downwards, who lives with her partly-paralysed mother, was afraid of getting a TV and Astro connection after being warned by a welfare officer that they would cut aid to them if she did so.

This is the first time I have heard that in Bolehland having a TV is considered to be “rich”. Nevermind that a new small TV nowadays cost less than RM200. You can also get a second hand one for free in some charity shops. In the case of the disabled, what do the authorities in Bolehland want them to do? Sit around and stare at the wall all day long? The answer is “yes” because if they stare at a TV, they are no longer poor.

What is your say??

In line with the one posted yesterday, here comes for the unisex...

Will it happen??

Kalau anda pikir anda masih islam
bacalah...kalau tidak......Allah saja yang tahu...

Tolonglah ambil masa 2 minit untuk membaca
ini....kalau lebih dua minit
tu bukan membaca la tu..tapi mengeja.. ;-)

Dengan Nama ALLAH yg Maha Pemurah lagi Maha Pengasih...

Bayangkan benda ini berlaku pada anda.....
Suatu hari pada masa
Sembahyang jumaat yang di hadiri oleh lebih
kurang 1,000 jemaah...
tiba-tiba masuk dua orang lelaki yang menutupi
seluruh tubuhnyer dgn pakaian hitam.. tak nampak apa cuma dua biji
mata and membawa mesingun... lalu salah seorang lelaki tu bertempik "
masing-masing termasuk Pak Imam tu... Lelaki yang bertempik tadi segera
membuka tutup mukanya lalu melihat ke arah Pak Imam sambil berkata: "Ok Pak Imam, saya dah halau SEMUA yang hipokrit, sekarang bolehlah Pak
Imam mulakan sembahyang Jumaat".... Lalu kedua lelaki tersebut berpaling
dan meninggalkan jemaah....
Macammana.. adakah anda rasa lawak dgn cerita di atas.
selain terhibur anda fikirlahlah...

" Lawak kan , dari 1,000 org yg mengaku dia
Islam hanya 20 yg betul-betul beriman... "

" Lawakkan berapa banyak manusia yang mudah
lupakan ALLAH bila menghadapi bahaya... kedua lelaki hanya
membawa mesin-gun.. dia tak kata pun
nak bunuh.. tapi generasi skrang.. amat lemah..
baru kena ugut terus lari
lintang pukang.. lupa yg dia tak sembahyang
jumaat lagi..."

Thots...

Pantun Mari Sembahyang yang manja ...........

Apasal la aku malas sembahyang,
Tuhan kasi aku jasad siap dengan bayang - bayang,
Bukan ke lebih beruntung daripada tiang,
Berdiri tanpa roh malam & siang...

Apasal la aku malas sembahyang,
Kerja dah best keluarga pun dah senang,
Negara pun dah aman tidak lagi hidup berdagang,
Takkan lima minit lima waktu aku tak boleh luang....

Apasal la aku malas sembahyang,
Tuhan kasi otak supaya aku tak bangang,
Tuhan kasi ilmu boleh fikir susah senang,
Tuhan kasi nikmat kenapa aku tak kenang...

Apasal la aku malas sembahyang,
Main bola aku sanggup sampai petang,
Beli tiket konsert aku sanggup beratur panjang,
Apa la aku ingat masuk syurga boleh hutang...?

Apasal la aku malas sembahyang,
Aku kena ingat umur Kita bukannya panjang,
Pagi Kita sihat petang boleh kejang,
Nanti dalam kubur kena balun sorang - sorang....

Apasal la aku malas sembahyang,
Siksa neraka Cuba la aku bayang,
Perjalanan akhirat memang terlalu panjang,

What goes around.....

Greetings to those who stop by...

It's been quite sometime since I last explore issues about being part of a system/ community. It is now April and my scope is slowly widening; homeground and away. This is the time where I need to deal with my immediate colleagues and those who'll be running the show at various levels. I'm not sure whether I'm a leader or I like to be led but I guess everybody is just like that; sometimes we like to take the lead and sometimes we like others to lead.

The talk is abuzz when we have to multitask. Some people need a certain amount of pressure to keep them going but some don't like to be pressurised. Many would like to balance between work and pleasure cos all work and no play, surely makes you a d**b boy.. Some thought that personal interest is more important than core business and this noble profession has more than its fair share of honest employees or otherwise.

Hmm, what I'm trying to say is, if we work in a group, don't try to show that you can do this or you can do that if you cant deliver what you say. Delegation of work is important so that our superiors/clients could get the best deal. Firm/ Astute self confidence is needed but not to the extent that it irks others. Sometimes being a follower is better in the sense that you let others to plan for you but hey, let me remind you, RESPECT OTHERS if you want to be respected. We are not SUPER man/woman, that's why we have a chain of command; Bossy boss>> Superb sub>> Weary workers. If you happen to be the last runner for the relay team, try to appreciate the effort made by the 1st runner and try to make things worthwhile to those who have given you the chance to prove yourself.

To sum things up.... Do Your Best to prove that you are a reliable CO-WORKER and not a TROUBLEMAKER....

Have I made myself clear???

Love- A different perspective.

Slow down to read this. It should be worth it.

Touching words from the mouths of babes. What does 'Love' mean?

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does 'love' mean?' The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

1) 'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'
Billy - age 4

2) 'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.'
Karl - age 5

3) 'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.'
Chris Lim - age 6

4) 'Love is when my mummy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.'
Daniel - age 7

5) 'Love is what's in the house with you at Hari Raya if you stop watching tv and look around.'
Boy - age 7 (Wow!)

6) 'If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,'
Nikki - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

7) 'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.'
Tommy - age 6

8) 'During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.'
Cindy - age 8

9) 'Love is when Mummy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.'
Elaine-age 5

10) 'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.'
Lily - age 4

11) 'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.'
Jasmin - age 8

So, there you go... Some definition of love coming from unadulterated minds. Do you foresee it coming??

To Lead or Be Led

Don't walk behind me, 'cause I may not lead.
>>Why not??
Don't walk in front of me, 'cause I may not follow.
>>Can't follow suit??
But walk beside me, 'cause we are friends.
>>For how long??

The Call of Prayer..

ADAB MENDENGAR AZAN

Death is imminent. Only the exact time is unknown. Let us scrutinise why the people who are experiencing the near death unable to say anything. The tongue is tied, speechless; only the facial expression shows some 'struggling' with 'sakaratul maut'. The sermon which I happened to listen to last friday told that 'sakaratul maut' has ways to either subtly or aggressively take the soul out of a body. The most delicate way still felt like your skin is being peeled off without any anesthetics given. Go figure!!

Diriwayatkan sebuah hadis yg bermaksud: 'Hendaklah
Kamu mendiamkan diri ketika azan, jika tidak Allah
Akan kelukan lidahnya ketika maut menghampirinya. '

This proves that we are recommended to keep quiet during the call of prayer (azan). As Muslims, we are obliged to pay our respect. If during 'Negaraku' we stand straight, stay put n be quiet, why can't we do the same for 'azan'?

Those who hear 'azan', by right they should go and congregate and for those who can't, at least show some respect. Therefore, those who do not respect the call of prayer, Allah will 'lock' the tongue when they are experiencing near death. As a result, they can't pronounce the syahada' (kalimah 'Lailahaillallah. . ')

semasa sakaratul maut menghampiri kami.. Amin... amin.. amin Yarobbala ' lamin.. . '

Izit true??

Some people like to be frank, some like cliches; some like it hot, some like it shaken n not stirred. So, based on some spur-of-the-moment unfounded observation, this is what I came to notice when dealing with the opposite sex....

NINE WORDS WOMEN USE
(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end
an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed,
this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just
been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the
storm. This means something and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin
with nothing usually end in fine.
(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission.
Don't Do It!
(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but
is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she
thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here
and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of
nothing.)
(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most
dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to
think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not
question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here -
This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is
not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome'; that will bring on a
'whatever').
(8) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying
s***w YOU!
(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another
dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do
several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man
asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

* Send this to the men you know to warn them about arguments they can
avoid if they remember the terminology.

So, what say you???

Satisfied??

Salam,

Somebody mentioned about an issue recently. Feel free to comment here or there. Go to http://azlanlin.blogspot.com/ and read the entry dated 25/2/09. What do you think?

Monday, February 16, 2009

Salam....

Somebody sent this to me via email; just to share with those who are still in the dark about this

SEKADAR PERINGATAN UNTUK SEMUA UMAT ISLAM.....

Ilmu utk dikongsi bersama :
Pagi semlm (130209) dengar radio ikim (91.50 fm), ustaz Zawawi citer tentang sunnah Rasulallah s.a.w.
Antaranya tentang bab memberi salam.
Baginda memberi salam dgn lafaz "assalamualaikum" dan menjawab salam
dari para sahabat dgn salam yg penuh "waalaikumussalam warahmatulallahhi wabarakatuh"

Beri salam - assalamualaikum"
Jawab salam - "waalaikumussalam warahmatulallah hi wabarakatuh"

Apabila kira berkirim salam pada org lain, hendaklah kita berkata "Kirim salam assalamualaikum pada ZIZAH ye" contoh lerr...
Bukannya : "Kirim salam kat ZIZAH ye"

"Akum = Avde Kokhavim U Mazzalot"
Maksud singkatan " A'kum"

Untuk renungan bersama :

Janganlah kita menggantikan perkataan
"As Salam" iaitu sama makna dengan Assalamualaikum.
Sesama lah kita memberitahu member-member yang selalu sangat guna
shortform A'kum dalam sms ataupun email.

bermaksud 'HAMBA-HAMBA BINATANG DAN ORANG-ORANG SESAT'.
Mulai sekarang jika ada orang hantar shortform "A'kum", kita ingatkan
dia guna "As Salam" kerana salam ialah dari perkataan Assalamualaikum.
Semoga ada manfaatnya.

JIKA ANDA TIDAK KEBERATAN, FORWARD LAH CERITA KEPADA TEMAN TEMAN MU,
KERANA SESUNGGUHNYA ILMU YANG BERMANFAAT ITU, AKAN ABADI JIKA DIAMALKAN.

kalau ada kemuskilan berjumpalah yg pakar dlm bidang ni.....

Wallahualam...

Cari Pasal- finale

My apology if some wouldn't take what I'm gonna present as jokes but as for me, it's meant to hone our sarcasm skill.. Here we go;

A woman is standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror.
She is not happy with what she sees and says to her husband,
'I feel horrible! I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.'

The husband replies, 'Your eyesight's perfect.'

And then the fight started.....

------------ --------- --------- ------

Saturday morning I got up early, quietly dressed, made my lunch, grabbed the dog, and slipped quietly into the garage.

I hooked up the boat up to the truck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour.

The wind was blowing 50 mph, so I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad all day.

I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed.

I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and whispered, 'The weather out there is terrible.'

My loving wife of 10 years replied, 'Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that?'

And then the fight started ...

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- ----

I asked my wife, "Where do you want to go for our anniversary?"

It warmed my heart to see her face melt in sweet appreciation.. "Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!" she said.

So I suggested, "How about the kitchen?"

And that's when the fight started....

Don't get me wrong; I'm just anticipating the future..

Cari Pasal.. Part 1

Got nothing better to do; Here's a few ways to make 'saucers' flying' (not flying saucer)....

When I got home one night three months ago, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive... so, I took her to a gas station.

And then the fight started...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My wife sat down on the couch next to me as I was flipping channels. She asked, 'What's on TV?'

I said, 'Dust.'

And then the fight started...

------------ --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- -

My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, 'I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds.'

I bought her a scale.

And then the fight started...

Until later, don't get too emotional.....

Why are they powerful? why are Muslims powerless?

Here's another reason. We have lost the capacity to produce knowledge.

o In the entire Muslim World (57 Muslim Countries) there are only 500
universities.
o In USA alone, 5,758 universities
o In India alone, 8,407 universities
o Not one university in the entire Islamic World features in the Top 500
Ranking Universities of the World
o Literacy in the Christian World 90%
o Literacy in the Muslim World 40%
o 15 Christian majority-countries, literacy rate 100%
o Muslim majority - countries , None
o 98% in Christian countries completed primary
o Only 50% in Muslim countries completed primary.
o 40% in Christian countries attended university
o In Muslim countries a dismal 2% attended.
o Muslim majority countries have 230 scientists per one million Muslims
o The USA has 5000 per million
o The Christian world 1000 technicians per million.
o Entire Arab World only 50 technicians per million.
o Muslim World spends on research/developmen t 0.2% of GDP
o Christian World spends 5 % of GDP

Conclusion.
o The Muslim World lacks the capacity to produce knowledge.

Another way of testing the degree of knowledge is the degree of diffusing
knowledge.

o Pakistan 23 daily newspapers per 1000 citizens
o Singapore 460 per 1000 citizens.
o In UK book titles per million is 2000
o In Egypt book titles per million is only 17

Conclusion.
o Muslim World is failing to diffuse knowledge

Applying Knowledge is another such test.
o Exports of high tech products from Pakistan is 0.9% of its exports.
o In Saudi Arabia is 0.2%
o Kuwait , Morocco and Algeria 0.3%
o Singapore alone is 68%

Conclusion.
o Muslim World is failing to apply knowledge.

What do you conclude? no need to tell the figures are speaking
themselves very loudly we are unable to listen

Advice:

Please educate yourself and your children. always promote education, don't
compromise on it, don't ignore your children's slightest misguidance from
education (and please, for God's Sake, don't use your personal contacts or
sources to promote your children in their education; if they fail, let
them and make them learn to pass cos if they can't do it now, they can't
forever).
We are World's biggest and strongest nation, all we need is to identify
and explore our ownselves. Our victory is with our knowledge, our
creativity, our literacy...And nothing else.

Program

The holiday is nearing to its end and for me, nothing to shout about cos on wednesday I had something on and on thursday I chaperoned 40 students to Ipoh to test their skills at bowling. traffic northbound was easy unlike southbound the way back, had to take bidor exit to avoid the traffic.
Starting friday, counselling unit is having a motivational programme with 80 ss. I was put in charge to oversee the discipline of the ss, so I have to be there on and off. In fact, I just got back from that resort which is about 5 minutes away from my home (taking the motorcycle's route). Hopefully the exposure the students got from YPM's personnel would shed some lights for their future undertakings. As for tomorrow, I need to be there again for the closing ceremony. what a great way to mark the last weekend of January....

Breakaway..

Yesterday was pretty full; morning as usual, after friday prayer got sport's practice, at 6pm went to fix the railing at KMP, after Isya' went for the usual squash meet in Ptn City and came back at 1.00 am. I woke up at 4.00 am and left for KL 30 mts later (traffic northbound was heavy) and reached Putra terminal at 5.15 am to fetch 'abang'. Went to have breakfast at 'Nasi Lemak A.Bangsa in Kg Baru (nothing special bout it!!) before adjourning to the mosque for subuh prayer. Later on, we went to a hypermarket in Kg Pandan to do some grocery shopping and by the time we got back home, it was already 11.00 am...Time to hit the cosy bed for a while..............

Pitstop

Greetings,
Pejam-celik-pejam-celik, dah cuti rupanyer!! The time spent seemed to fly very fast with backlog accumulating( I think). Biasa ler, new year, plenty of reminders to be done, working papers to be realised and programmes to be run albeit peruntukan entah ke mana..
This year, 'Master of Puppets' (saper ingat lagu kumpulan mana tu??) kat skolah dah diambil oleh org lain. On paper, I no longer should take heed (well, not 100%) of what's happening with those puppets but I guess it would take sometime before I can slow down.. As per previous years, new f3 students needed to be reminded again and again about the do's and the dont's in school. Somehow, I don't see myself as someone whose patience can be tested without any negative consequences. My patience would run really thin when after the 3rd reminder, the offenders still do the same wrongdoings. I believe people should be given the chance to repent but these young generation, it seemed that they only take PERSONAL warnings as reminders and not the general warning/reminders blasted during the morning roll call. This was evident when a few guys were stopped for various misdemeanour, they claimed they didnt know that what they did was against the school rules...
Yesterday was the last day for me to remind them about the general conduct; For me, action needs to be taken to show those students that the teachers mean business in moulding their characters. We'll see whether they would follow suit or lose their demerit points..

Reminisce

I have just finished reading a memoir written by my seniors about my alma mater, SMS Kel or now known as SMSTMFP. It really affected me for those memories reminded me of the things that have moulded me to be the person I am today. Reading those recollections, I have mixed feelings; glad because I could FEEL the warmth of the stories but at the same time, bad because I did not contribute to the writing. I salute those who left the school about 25 years ago but still have strong feelings attached. Sorry guys, maybe I'll try later but THANKS in advance for inspiring me with all those recollections...

For those who would like to catch a glimpse of the memoir, feel free to visit

Statistik

Salam,
Got this thru email, dunno whether it's true or otherwise. Anyway, just for your light reading..

Selama beberapa tahun aku telah merungut kerana kurang tidur dan terlalu banyak tekanan dalam hidup, akan tetapi sekarang kini aku tahu kenapa ianya berlaku (the real reason) :

Aku keletihan kerana terlebih kerja... nak tau kenapa?

Jadi tinggal 21.3 juta orang.

1.3 juta pula adalah golongan kanak2 bawah 6 tahun.
Jadi tinggal 20 juta orang.

Jadi sedarlah skit.... dahhhh..!!! pi buat kerja!!!

No offence....

Warming up...

A week has passed since I'm back in business although the cycle has not really warmed up yet. Managing human resource is not as easy as managing lifeless stock; students to be reminded, timetable to be readjusted, classes to be monitored, reports to be drafted, prepared n written n etc. The first day of school saw an official from DEO who came to observe the running of the 1st day of school. Who in their right mind would suggest an observer to come on the 1st day to carry out the observation?? Even Uni students need the refresher's week, what more with the school-going children??

Friday came in a hurry; seemed like nothing much has been accomplished. Well, at least I still have sometime in the coming weeks to continue with the unfinished business (hopefully!!). WHY?? cos at 6.20 pm, I received a phone call informing me that a neighbour had passed away that evening. I accepted the fact that we shall 'go' when the time has come but in this case, the deceased was about 43 years old... That made me think, do I really have all the time until my retirement day in 2029 to do what I'm suppose to do or will I only have a few more years left??

This week I'm on duty and that means arriving by 7.15 a.m in school and with the numerous meetings to be held and sports practices, I'm prepared to go back at 5 or 6 pm but tomorrow (tuesday) I'll be going to Taiping for a meeting (8.30 am) and that means my colleague has to cover my slot. On wednesday, sports meeting is scheduled to be on and the disciplinary board meeting is on thursday. This saturday is supposed to be a school day because HM has decided to take the whole week for the Chinese New Year holiday but I won't be in cos the state co-cu unit has decided to carry forward the meeting from 23-25 Jan to 16-18 Jan, to be held in Pkln Hulu (again!)

As the year progresses, I'm hoping that I'll be able to handle things accordingly and at the same time still be able to maintain those handsome 'patches' up-there from thinning out...Any suggestion??

To Do or Not To Do.......

Once in a comfort zone, normally we are reluctant to move out. Would this be applicable for our kids too? I have mixed feelings about this. The reason? Planning or charting the future for our kids. With the current scenario of our young generation, degradation of social values, knowledge for future usage; I feel that I need to......

Last friday at 3 pm, we started our journey to the east coast and we arrived at around 10 pm. Thanks to new seatbelt ruling, we had to leave the 3 kids and the maid behind in TM, just in case of roadblocks. We're sending our eldest to a religious school. The journey was ok but it was raining all the way starting from Ipoh to KB. The following day, we were supposed to attend the briefing at 8 am but decided to skip the lecture and went straight for the registration n paying for the school and hostel fees at 9.45 am. The school is under Kltn Islamic Foundation. Being boarding school students, wifey and I have this fuzzy recollection of hostel life. There were about 250 f.1 students doing their registration and suddenly I felt like I was in a govt boarding school cos I met parents coming as far as Johor during registration. Things were a bit chaotic because we realised that we missed out on a few essentials for the hostel life e.g padlock n we had to buy a pillow cos it's not provided and it was raining all the while!! After paying for the fees and booking the bed in the hostel (as usual, they gave the 3rd floor to f.1) we went out at 12.30 pm to complete the list and to take our lunch.

We went back to the hostel at 5.30 pm to unpack, put markings on the stuff, organised them in the locker, tested the padlock, gave a few do's and dont's and by 7 pm (not before some red-eye-session), we were on our way back to TM cos we didn't want to get stuck if the flood decides to block any major route out of Kelantan. The traffic was slow moving and by the time I reached Gerik, I couldn't keep my eyes open. I decided to rest for a while and what was supposed to be a forty-winks turned out to be a-two-hour-nap at the rest area. After finishing a burger as my supper, I started off at 1 am and reached TM at 3.30 am...

Driving for 6 hours just to send him to continue his study was tiring, not because I'm not used to it but becos of all the instant execution of plans. I thought I had prepared everything but the result showed otherwise. Without realising it, my eldest has started a new chapter in his life but I have full faith in him. Tho' he might stumble but I do believe, with all the exposure that he has, he would be able to survive among his new friends. The thought of sending him to SMKA's did cross my mind and he did apply but I think he would be better off in the east coast. We'll see whether my plan would be for or against me........

Maal hijrah and New Year

Salam n greetings everybody,

2008 'passed away' with lots of memories and the dawn of 2009 has given way to the start of another year. Things change and modifications need to be done to suit the current situation.

The 1st meeting was held yesterday and things couldn't be clear enough. New measures are to be taken to mould holistic individuals and wishful thinking hinted that ideally things could be better. Coming back to real life, hiccups and hindrance are everywhere that could give rise... not to the price of petrol but BP level!! Everybody is hoping for the best but if individuals dont know (dont CARE!!) about their future, can we repeatedly advise the youngsters without them getting bored or getting on our nerves?

Another school is having the meeting tomorrow and after that, we are heading east to register our son for his secondary years. Coming back on saturday, we dont know what time we'll arrive but on sunday, we have to send the daughter for her pre-std 1 programme.

Well, Have a meaningful and fruitful days ahead….

Roger and out..

After going to 'pejabat agama', at 9.40 am I headed to an exhust shop in bidor to have the cat-con removed cos it's been there for more than 11 years. Had to wait for a while cos got 2 customers who arrived earlier. The process took about 40 mts and by noon, I was in the office back in SR. Thought of having lunch but since I got some data updating to be done, I stayed back until 3.00 pm. After that I worked with my colleagues to bind the booklets for tomorrow's meeting. By 5.30, missus called and I drove back to trolakjaya to pick her up. By 6.15, I reached KMP and met with the 'ironman' (who had earlier fitted the grill to my unit) to pay him for his service. Stopped by at pahrurazi's house and reached home by 7.10 pm..

Went to OCBC n RHB bank to complete the transaction. Headed to ipoh parade, spent some time browsing in popular. Later I checked the superbowl and surprisingly, 10 lanes were empty... After dinner, we went to Carrefour ampang for a while before stopping in IPB kg pandan to pick up atie. We finally reached TM at 11 pm..
