To Do or Not To Do.......

Once in a comfort zone, normally we are reluctant to move out. Would this be applicable for our kids too? I have mixed feelings about this. The reason? Planning or charting the future for our kids. With the current scenario of our young generation, degradation of social values, knowledge for future usage; I feel that I need to......

Last friday at 3 pm, we started our journey to the east coast and we arrived at around 10 pm. Thanks to new seatbelt ruling, we had to leave the 3 kids and the maid behind in TM, just in case of roadblocks. We're sending our eldest to a religious school. The journey was ok but it was raining all the way starting from Ipoh to KB. The following day, we were supposed to attend the briefing at 8 am but decided to skip the lecture and went straight for the registration n paying for the school and hostel fees at 9.45 am. The school is under Kltn Islamic Foundation. Being boarding school students, wifey and I have this fuzzy recollection of hostel life. There were about 250 f.1 students doing their registration and suddenly I felt like I was in a govt boarding school cos I met parents coming as far as Johor during registration. Things were a bit chaotic because we realised that we missed out on a few essentials for the hostel life e.g padlock n we had to buy a pillow cos it's not provided and it was raining all the while!! After paying for the fees and booking the bed in the hostel (as usual, they gave the 3rd floor to f.1) we went out at 12.30 pm to complete the list and to take our lunch.

We went back to the hostel at 5.30 pm to unpack, put markings on the stuff, organised them in the locker, tested the padlock, gave a few do's and dont's and by 7 pm (not before some red-eye-session), we were on our way back to TM cos we didn't want to get stuck if the flood decides to block any major route out of Kelantan. The traffic was slow moving and by the time I reached Gerik, I couldn't keep my eyes open. I decided to rest for a while and what was supposed to be a forty-winks turned out to be a-two-hour-nap at the rest area. After finishing a burger as my supper, I started off at 1 am and reached TM at 3.30 am...

Driving for 6 hours just to send him to continue his study was tiring, not because I'm not used to it but becos of all the instant execution of plans. I thought I had prepared everything but the result showed otherwise. Without realising it, my eldest has started a new chapter in his life but I have full faith in him. Tho' he might stumble but I do believe, with all the exposure that he has, he would be able to survive among his new friends. The thought of sending him to SMKA's did cross my mind and he did apply but I think he would be better off in the east coast. We'll see whether my plan would be for or against me........

Maal hijrah and New Year

Salam n greetings everybody,

2008 'passed away' with lots of memories and the dawn of 2009 has given way to the start of another year. Things change and modifications need to be done to suit the current situation.

The 1st meeting was held yesterday and things couldn't be clear enough. New measures are to be taken to mould holistic individuals and wishful thinking hinted that ideally things could be better. Coming back to real life, hiccups and hindrance are everywhere that could give rise... not to the price of petrol but BP level!! Everybody is hoping for the best but if individuals dont know (dont CARE!!) about their future, can we repeatedly advise the youngsters without them getting bored or getting on our nerves?

Another school is having the meeting tomorrow and after that, we are heading east to register our son for his secondary years. Coming back on saturday, we dont know what time we'll arrive but on sunday, we have to send the daughter for her pre-std 1 programme.

Well, Have a meaningful and fruitful days ahead….

Roger and out..

IQ n EQ

Salam n Greetings everybody,

It has been nearly 3 weeks since I last updated this site. been a bit busy n things were hectic until today. Tomorrow should be ok but still got appointment to send fauzan for his checkup. He's not well today, a bit of flu, flam n cough; hope its nothing serious cos things gonna be busier for the next 7 days; missus got meeting n I'll be on duty.
For the past one week, I was mentally squashed with the infos meant for the midlife teachers. 1 week undergoing the course has given me something to ponder about; am i gonna stay in the teaching profession or will i be in the management line? some of my colleagues have enrolled to do masters in education management n NPQH. I'm still undecided whether I should be taking the same path as theirs.
Listening to the lectures about the national policy and the policy makers' intention, everything seems to fit perfectly but experiencing the current situation, I have my doubts. Whether you are a reactive or proactive person, current infrastructures only help in certain ways. The rest would depend on the people who would be working at ground zero and with the current situation, I reserve my comment. I'm not trying to be pessimistic but I have my reservation.
Whatever it is, I hope I can do my best to make things work accordingly. IQ is needed to theoretically plan good things but EQ is needed so that the implementation wouldn't stress the workforce cos they are the ones who will actually be involved directly with the clients...
I beg to ponder...

Procastination or Pressure...

Never thought that the time to do an assignment would come again and to make it more challenging, right in the middle of brainstorming, eye-straining n nerve-wrecking marking moments. I always advise my students to somehow plan their writing but when it comes to reality, the execution is harder than I thought!!
I guess old habit dies hard; I was at the junction before, didn't know which path to take, until the eleventh hour has come and tried to strangle me with the guilty feeling of putting things off until they really suffocate you, I mean myself..
As it is, I'm halfway through of the 20-page requirement and if I can make it by tomorrow, I still have time to get it proofread. That's right, final check for that 'kerjakursus BM' before it'll be submitted this saturday.
As Nan said, torturous gilerrr.......

School holiday/ break

As good as it may sound, things are not as rosy as it seems. The last day of school was friday the 14th but for me, nothing to shout about. 18-19 nov, I'll be having a meeting, 29nov-6 dec have to attend a course, 10 dec a meeting again, 11-12 dec I'll be on duty in school and for the rest of dec my better half would be tied down with EST. So, there goes the entire school holiday. This has been going on for the past 5 years and somehow as the saying goes ' rebutlah masa lapang sebelum sibuk mendatang', is true. There's no more holiday in terms of quantity but with the limitations imposed, I need to strive for quality times....
Will I ever achieved that????
